‘Ravaiyaa’ by ‘BnR Films’wins ‘Best Thought-Provoking Concept Award’ at International Film Festival


Pune: Produced under the banner BnR Films, the social short film ‘Ravaiyaa’, after getting accolades from a total of 5 International Film Festivals, has won it’s very first award; ‘Best Thought-Provoking Concept’ award at ‘Cinema of the World, Mumbai’; an International Film Festival which was conducted virtually (on a Virtual Platform)on 16th August 2020.

The Festival Authorities say, “Films from23 countries participated in the film festival.  ‘Ravaiyaa’ was one among the 80 participating films in the ‘Best Thought-Provoking Concept’ category. In this category, the idea of ‘Ravaiyya’ won our hearts and became the winner. Perspective is what we all need right now and the idea of this film says it beautifully. The film was thoroughly appreciated by the jury and the audience.”

Prior to this award, the film had its World Festival Premiere at ‘Lift-Off Sessions, UK’ in July 2020. Recently the film also received ‘Official Selection’ at ‘Asian International Film Festival, Japan’ and ‘Essex DocFest, UK’; to be held in the month of September and October 2020 respectively.

‘Ravaiyaa’, a social drama, happens to be BnR Films’s first crowdfunded short film. The film is based on a true story and few real incidents which happened across India during National lockdown.‘Ravaiyaa’ means attitude. According to its makers, the film makes a humble attempt at showing the brighter/extraordinary side of India’s migrant labourers during this unprecedented time of Corona Pandemic.

The film, which was produced in May 2020 (during lockdown period), has been entirely shot on phone and from the respective homes of the actors. Award-winning Filmmaker Biswanath has written and directed (virtually) this short film which is produced by BnR Films (Founded by Biswanath and Archana Rath). Subhasmita Sethy is the Co-Producer, Pritish R Dash is the Executive Producer and IJ Kakehashi Services Pvt Ltd is the Associate Producer of the film. It features Ashish Kumar and Rohit Kakde. The theme song titled ‘India Jeetega’ has been written by Biswanath and composed/ performed by young and talented music director Bankim Patel. The song has got tremendous response from the netizens for its inspirational as well as patriotic theme. It has also received ‘Official Selection’ at ‘Lift-Off Sessions, UK’ and ‘Essex DocFest, UK’. Editing, Color grading, Sound Design have been carried out by Vinayak Dasgupta, who has previously worked with Biswanath in his award-winning documentary ‘Kotpad Weaving’.

Writer-Director Biswanath says, “I dedicate this award to the Never-say-die spirit of Indian Migrant Labourers. After all, it’s their true story of courage, honesty and self-esteem which inspired me to make this film.

Upon its release, we had received an overwhelming response for the film and it’s title song ‘India Jeetega’ from the audience as well as critics. Now with its very first award and film festival selections in Japan, UK, etc, we feel really humbled. These accolades have brought a fresh round of cheers and excitement among the cast/crewmember and fans. We feel honored to receive such love and recognition from the global audience.”
