New Delhi: In a surprise visit to ‘Hunar Haat’, the crafts fair organized by the Ministry of Minority Affairs at India Gate in Delhi, PM Narendra Modi had Litti-Chokha for lunch. He also enjoyed Kulhad Chai along with Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
Soon after chairing a cabinet meeting, PM Modi reached Hunar Haat, at Rajpath. He spent around 50 minutes there, interacting with artisans. Soon after a photo tweeted by PM Modi, where he was seen enjoying delicious ‘litti-chokha’, went viral and netizens gave their lovely comments. Sources said he paid Rs. 120 for the ‘litti-chokha’ and Rs. 40 for two cups of tea.
‘Litti-chokha’ is a traditional staple food famous in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and parts of Eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi’s litti-chokha lunch drew pointed references on social media to elections in Bihar, later this year.
In other photos, he was seen visiting various stalls and admiring the crafts and interacting with artisans.
He even tried his hand at traditional chimes and tweeted: “Trying my hand at some music in #HunarHaat…”
The haat will continue for 10 long days, which was started on February 13. The crafts fair is organized to provide recognition to the country’s customary legacy of arts and crafts. This year the fair is based on the theme ‘Kaushal Ko Kaam’ and will be held till February 23.
