Favipiravir Therapy brought to Focus in Odisha; Doctors to be Sensitized

 

Bhubaneswar: Leading the way for the anti-viral treatment of COVID positive persons in home isolation, State Government has brought Favipiravir Therapy to focus. Chief Secretary Sri Asit Tripathy gave clear-cut directions in this regard over a digital review meeting held today morning from Lokseba Bhawan.  Sri Tripathy said, “Clinical and technical diligence shows that Favipiravir will reduce the risk of deterioration in patients’ health condition. It will also reduce the chances of the patients going to the hospital”. However, he added, “adequate precaution should be taken to prevent contra-indications of the medicine”.

Reviewing the progress about administration of the therapy in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri corporation areas, Sri Tripathy directed the municipal and district level health authorities to have real-time data of the positive persons in home isolation. He directed to simplify the process for delivery for the medicine to the patients at their doorstep. Chief Secretary said, “Simplify the process and sensitize the doctors, health personnel, RRT members and activists involved in the COVID management”.  Sri Tripathy also emphasized on direct contact with the patients in home isolation by the treating physician, RRTs and IDSP cell on day to day basis.  It was decided that the senior officers from State level will do random check about maintenance of data base, contact with patients in home isolation and administration of favipiravir therapy at filed level.

Further, Chief Secretary Sri Tripathy advised Secretary Information and Public Relations Sri Sanjaya Singh, present in the meeting to organize sanitization webinars for doctors and members of RRTs. It was decided to start the webinar from today itself. Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family Welfare Sri Pradeepta Kumar Mohapatra directed the senior medical officers of SCB medical college and Hospital, Ashwani Hospital and Sum Hospital to join the webinar for sensitization.  The possibilities for linking the webinar to YouTube were also discussed in the meeting.

Additional Chief Secretary and SRC Sri Pradeep Kumar Jena, Additional Chief Secretary Health and Family Welfare Sri Pradeepta Kumar Jena, Principal Secretary and COVID Observer Smt Anu Garg, Secretary Information & Public Relations Sri Sanjay Singh, Secretary Electronics & Information Technology Sri Manoj Kumar Mishra along with Municipal Commissioners of BMC, CMC and Collector Puri participated in the discussions.
