749 Runners from 62 Countries Ran in Home Marathon Today


Dubai: The world’s first home marathon took place on Friday. In this, 749 runners representing 62 countries covered a distance of 42.195 km in their homes. Participants in the marathon include 526 men and 223 women. The youngest participant is 18 years old and the oldest is 65 years old.

The marathon started at sharp 8 am and ended at 6 pm as per the time of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In this way participants participated in it within ten hours. It was open to all age groups. Many runners from this region have participated in it. Apart from the UAE, runners from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, and Jordan also participated n the event.

The marathon was organized under the joint auspices of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), ASICS Middle East and the 5:30 run club. Participants decided their own course size for running but were not allowed to use the treadmill or any other equipment. Running in public places was also not be allowed.

Charge Smartwatch

Participants had to ensure that they have a fully charged smartwatch and smartphone in which the Strava app is working. They had to join the Marathon at Homegroup on Strava and were constantly involved. This app helped runners to track and determine their time and distance. Awards will be given to those at the top and certificates to those who complete the race.
